Hello everyone.
My journey to level up has become briefly halted by a sheer lack of energy. My mind pushes the pencil instead of the pencil itching to move by itself, leading to scribbles and what I feel to be half-hearted creations.
(And that colouring, whoof, still working on that )
This predicament, how best to explain it?
You know that part in X-Men First Class when Xavier is training all the mutants? Magneto tells him to shoot a gun at him so that he can catch the bullet. Faced with this, Xavier points out how this is a fruitless endeavour on two accounts; Magneto already knows that he can catch the bullets, and that complacency would only cause his potential to plateau.
Basically I gotta get out of the usual trap of drawing girls with no hands staring at something interesting going on to the left. It'll come to me, I just need to sleep on it I suppose. Then I can kill all humans and shove quarters into brains- er, get my footing, rather, and move forward.
Also I'll be at Tsukino-con in Victoria BC (February 13-15). Guess I'll see you there with some new material.
PS - I've got a handful of notes about commissions. I've never done any online before, but maybe we can work something out. Let me know if you're interested I guess.

And the journey continues...
Remarkable the amount of spam and one-click generated art around these parts. Nevertheless, I shall try to persist in my own way, maybe even toss support behind some of the real people where I can. After all, for me this is just a hobby, but still a craft I take with some degree of pride.
Flotsam
Boy the UI sure has changed a lot. I misclicked from those whom I follow to the DA Homepage and was greeted with a homogeneous deluge. The same pre-defined, measured quantities applied to faces and rendering held up to a uniform standard. No, they're not all the same picture, and yet, somehow, they all look the same, a mean average of aesthetics. Frankly I'd preferred the OC scribbles of yesteryear, at least that came from a place of sincerity. Style means nothing anymore. I'm not even that good, but I've never put down the pencil. I won't make any melodramatic declaration about fighting back against AI or whatever, people want their products *now* and this is what they chose; surface without foundation, skin without bones, aesthetic without meaning. I'll just do the best I can.
RIP Harlan Ellison
I can write no words better to speak to the matter of his memory better than he could.
AR 2017 Post-Mortem
Well, that was fun. Long hours and I'm kind of sick, but a decent AA experience all the same. The new venue seems to have had problems with the attendees, I certainly hope they make things right with the consumers.
I did well enough this convention season, but it's apparent I need to step it up and do better still.

Holy crap, me too. It's a common problem, I think.
